Clovelly Inn

The Clovelly Inn the nearest and most popular is a Free House is an authentic rural Devon pub, dating back to the 18th Century. Originally called the Old Pack Horse Inn, and later the Palmers Clovelly Hotel, the bar features an oak fireplace lintel inscribed 1789.

The current owners, Torben and Suzanne Hughes, have created a welcoming, child-friendly atmosphere, with a fine selection of real ales which changes weekly, and home cooked food available seven days a week.

Please note: we strongly recommend booking in advance for dinner, as they get very busy, and would hate to turn people away!

Bratton Clovelly is a rural village on the North Western edge of Dartmoor National Park, some 9 miles away from the town of Okehampton. It is notable for its Norman period church, St Mary the Virgin, which contains a series of very rare 17th Century wall paintings.

Nearby, there is a very enjoyable three-mile circular walk, the Pack Horse Trail, which is clearly marked with Pack Horse signs. Leaflets are available at the pub, or you can download one from their main site. The walk starts and finishes at the Old School, a stone's throw away from excellent refreshment here at the Clovelly Inn Tel:- 01837 871447.
